Hard wood front doors with raised panels, moulding and opaque glass.
Folding garage doors made from Sapele hard wood with a mahogany
stain.
Small antique walnut writing desk with decorative inlays and banding some of which needed replacing. Fully restored the whole desk finishing with a deep polish.
Totally unique corner cabinet made to hide sound system in base (see vents allowing for sound) with display shelves housing spot lights.

A traditional style to complement the existing furniture, this is made from ash.

Family dining table made out of maple with one side as a drop leaf to fit into the kitchen corner allowing maximum light to fill the room. Three high backed maple chairs with shaped seats to match table.
Decorative radiator cabinets made to measure from mdf. Finished in white.

A selection of other school furniture projects completed.

Two octagonal computer work stations with adjacent library and upholstered seating area.

Made from oak veneered mdf.

Japanese wardrobes.

Japanese style sliding screens with 5 sliding panels concealing drawer units and wardrobes. Lighting is hidden behind the frosted glass doors.
Walnut is used with an Indian Rosewood stain.

Four reclaimed pine doors used to make wall to wall wardrobes. I stained and polished them to match the existing door and fire place.

I had to tear down the old lath and plaster ceiling in order to under brace the floor above to strengthen it. It gives the room a neat finish.

Custom made office to fit small awkward space off a hallway. Drawer and door fronts are curved to match the front edge of the work surface.
Cherrywood wardrobes with built in desk lit by spot lights.
Overhead storage. Curved cherrywood
handles run length of wardrobe doors.

Hidden behind these built in wardrobes is an en suite toilet, shower room & bidet. I fitted a mirror into 1 of the doors to maximise space in this small room. The other doors are opaque glass.

Inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh

Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired maple wardrobes with dressing mirror and chest of drawers.

Detailed with fuchsia pink glass inlays and mirrored glass inlays.

Curved Maple steps leading up to kitchen.

Oak Wardrobes

Fitted oak wardrobes with spot lights illuminating glass shelves.
These photos don't give a great impression of scale but these wardrobes are 9 foot high!

Oak & Walnut Staircase

Oak treads with opposite curves for each flight dove tailed onto chocks mortised into stringers. Clear perspex risers slotted into top of each tread with dark walnut newel posts and handrails finished in Danish Oil.

Bedroom

Oak paneling with inset mirror glass hiding a walk in wardrobe and washroom. I also made the walkway between the A frames leading to the mezzanine. All are finished with linseed oil.
Chess table inlaid with various different colours of veneer that I restored to bring back the colour and shine of when it was new.
Elm dresser with inlaid veneers and banding I brought back to life.

Antique bed that I transformed from a single to a double width wise and lengthwise matching in new veneers and staining new wood to match old.

Antique drop leaf table I restored.

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog.
My name is Jon Lindup. I am a furniture maker and antique restorer with many years experience working in both trades.

This blog is to give you a taster of what I make. I hope to update it with photos of my most recent projects as well as some older pieces that I'm particularly proud of.

Working as an antique restorer has taken me across Europe and over to New York. I have seen and worked upon some truly amazing pieces of furniture but making my own furniture and working to other peoples designs gives me the greatest sense of achievement. I hope that you can see that I'm a perfectionist and enjoy making beautifully hand crafted pieces taking care to finish them to the highest standard.

Enjoy my blog!
